Every worker in NYS needs to be concerned about Cuomo's plans to severely reduce workers' benefits under the NYS Workers' Compensation Law. He also plans to take oversight of the New York State Workers' Compensation Board away from the state legislature and hand that power over to the NYS Governor and the NYSWCB. Please contact your state representative and implore him or her to vote AGAINST these changes. If you are a member of a union, ask your union to get involved.

Colvin, Acting Commissioner of Social Security, announced the establishment of a centralized fraud prevention unit in New York City to identify potential fraud and detect fraud trends that can be applied to disability cases nationwide. A Maple City attorney is denouncing the state's decision to close the workers' compensation hearing site in Hornell, and he is asking Gov. Andrew Cuomo for a personal meeting to press for a reversal of that closure. Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan, also a critic of the closing, has offered the use of city hall facilities for workers' compensation hearings. The mayor said there is space available and there would be no charge.
